Hallo Claudia,Ich habe mich vor kurzen mit dem Verband der Wetaustralischen Ergotherapeuten in Verbindung gesetzt und mir wurde genau gesagt wie man vorgehen kann um eine Stelle zu bekommen. Ich füge dir den Text am Ende mal an. Im weitern weiss ich, dass es viele Ergotherapeuten in Australien braucht, wenn man sich um ein Immigration Visum bemüht, bekommt man im Moment sogar extra Punkte für das Erreichen der erforderlichen Punkte (es braucht eine gewisse Anzahl Punkte um überhaupt zugelassen zu werden). Dann sind auch Englisch Kenntnisse vorzuweisen…. Hoffe, Ich helfe dir damit ein wenig, ich interessiere mich auch in Australien zu arbeiten. Es gibt übrigens auch ein Studium an der Curtin University in Perth, extra für übersee Ergotherapeuten. Das dauert 2 Semester, danach kann man sich beim Verband der ETs in Westaustralien anmelden und ist dann zur Arbeit zugelassen. If you wish to write to them their address is COTRB, PO Box 229, Torrensville Plaza, South Australia, 5031.If, after assessing your qualifications, COTRB decides that you would be eligible to work as an occupational therapist in Australia, you would be required, in Western Australia, to find a position in which your employer would agree that a Senior Occupational Therapist in the organisation would supervise a “Practice Audit” for a period of 6 months full-time work, or 12 months part-time work.The supervisor and yourself would prepare a “Practice Audit Plan” ti submit to COTRB for approval. This “Plan” would cover areas of weakness in your knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice for Australian conditions.When COTRB approves the “Plan”, you would be able to apply to the Western Australian Occupational Therapists Registration Board for Temporary Registration, and then you could commence work with your employer. It may take up to 6 weeks for COTRB to approve the “Plan”. In the mean time, before approval is granted, you could work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.Once you have commenced the Practice Audit, your Supervisor would submit a report to the Board half way through the Audit and again at the end of the term. If the Audit were successfully completed, the Board would recommend that COTRB should issue you with a Certificate of Professional Competency.With this Certificate, you would be able to obtain full, unconditional Registration.The first step, however is to approach COTRB.
